The Pan Pacific Gathering for HIV+ People 2008 is proud to offer a Conference Scholarship Program. The number of scholarships is dependant on funds available in the Scholarship Fund.
Scholarships are ONLY available to HIV+ people from the Islands of the Pacific
Scholarships may be awarded partially or fully to cover;
- International Airfares (Economy Class Only)
- Hotel Accomodation (twin share basis)
- Airport transfer and taxes
- Conference Registration Fees
- Modest daily allowance (per diem)
- Opening Ceremony and Receptions
Target Audience
The scholarship programme is primarily offered to HIV+ people living in the Pacific:
- who attest to facing financial hardship
- who submit an abstract to the Conference
- who do not receive financial assistance from other sources to attend the conference
- who will incur high costs to travel to the conference
Applying for a Scholarship
Applicants are required to complete the Scholarship Application Form available from this website and return it to the conference secretariat by Friday 15 August, 2008. Late application will be considered but will be assessed after applications received by the due date. Incomplete applications may be rejected. Notifications will be sent out in August 2008.
Assessment and Eligibility Criteria
Applicants will be required to:
- submit an abstract
- declare any funding assistance they will receive to attend the conference
- indicate their distance from Auckland
- attest to the accuracy of their application for the scholarship and, in the case of employees, have their supervisor sign their form. The onus is on the applicant to notify the Secretariat of any change to their circumstances.
Publication of Scholarship Recipients
The Conference will publish the list of people supported by the scholarship program in its conference program. The Conference invites third parties who provide scholarships and financial assistance to also publish the list of people they will support in the conference programme. This information must be provided to the Secreteriat by 31 July 2008.
Funding the Scholarship Program
La Trobe University has been most generous in making money available for travel sponsorship.
Sponsorship of the Scholarship Fund is broadly promoted and encouraged. A copy of the full policy governing the Conference Scholarship Program can be obtained from the Secretariat.
